Profit Sharing Regulation

Under rate of return or price cap regulation, limits may be placed on returns. Sharing rules can be used to provide incentives for cost containment. Consumers immediately receive some benefit from efficiencies achieved by the firm. Sometimes referred to as hybrid schemes. See price cap excessive returns.
